Testimonial from award winning director Brian Watson, ex-Creative Director BHO, FCB London and Guinness World Record holder for the most number of television commercials made: "When you need a piece of music to compliment your TV Spot, David Smart is, literally, music to the adman's ears. David's ability to interpret a brief, from the script, without even seeing the finished film, is second to none. His understanding of what's needed is priceless. I've thrown briefs at David that were mind boggling, most people couldn't organise a piece of library music in the time I gave David. Yet, I always got a magnificent, specially composed, original piece that brought my films to life. I wanted 'Disney'. I couldn't afford 'Disney'. David gave me 'Disney', and we didn't get a law suit. He's a pleasure to work with. Always seamless. Pure genius".
As well as writing commercials for television, David has always been a prolific songwriter, producer and arranger covering most styles of music from Country to Soul, RnB and Pop. David spends his time between London, UK, Jackson Hole, Wyoming and Nashville, Tennessee where he is currently based. He is a keen surfer, snowboarder and fly fisherman. He was part of a four man British team that paddle-boarded from Havana, Cuba to Key West, Florida raising GBP 20,000 for Cancer Research, UK. and another GBP 8000 from a midnight crossing, paddling Loch Ness.
